CLAY & LIME FINISHES

For those who only need quality clay or lime finishes.

Consultation: hands holding clay and lime finish samples on an oak table

Step 01

First meeting and consultation

We visit the space, look at the light and go through real samples together. We choose the material and tone, agree the technical details and send a clear quotation.

Step 02

Filling and plastering

A good finish starts with the substrate. We do the painting work, filling, plastering and priming until the surface is smooth, sound and even — exactly what clay and lime need to last.

Step 03

Clay and lime finishes

Clay paint, clay plaster, limewash, lime plaster and marmorino are applied by hand, layer by layer. We finish with a walkthrough together and written care instructions.

A healthy home starts with the walls

How healthy a home feels is rarely decided by one big thing. It is usually decided by the surfaces you never notice — and the largest of them is the wall.

Clay vs lime: which finish to choose?

Clay plaster and limewash are both natural mineral finishes, but they behave differently in light, moisture and over time. Here is a short comparison to help you decide.

Mould is not just a stain on the wall — it changes the air you breathe. Lime is one of the few finishes that addresses the cause: it keeps the surface alkaline and lets moisture dry out.

FAQ

How long does installation take?

The exact time depends on surface size, number of layers and room humidity. A small project is usually done in a few days, larger rooms can take a week or more. Drying time between coats is also important for an even, durable result.

Which rooms are clay and lime suitable for?

Both clay and lime finishes work well in living rooms, bedrooms and on ceilings. Clay is ideal where warmth, matte calm and humidity regulation matter. Lime is also beautiful in these spaces and, being more durable and moisture-resistant, is especially good for kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and staircases.

How do I maintain the surface?

Both surfaces are low-maintenance: remove dust with a soft brush or dry microfibre cloth. Small stains and damages can usually be repaired locally without redoing the whole wall. Avoid aggressive cleaners, abrasive scrubbing and constant water exposure.

Is lime finish suitable for bathrooms?

Yes, lime tolerates bathroom humidity and steam better than clay thanks to its high pH and excellent vapour permeability. It is still important to avoid direct water jets and ensure adequate ventilation so the surface can dry.
